Say Hello and Take a Bow!

Hi Everyone I've just notice how membership is growing. Perhaps all the new folk would like to put a picture on the profile and say something about yourselves and your views. Is the VLE is undead more undead than we thought? Can we breath new life (or death) into it? Look forward to hearing from everyone. John TraxlerSee More

I believe this was the gist of the argument put by Graham in the debate :) While laudable and possibly even logical, it needs learners to be actively driving their education, and to do that they need the skills and maturity to do so. I see little…

Part of a bigger malaise?

I wondered if the death (or otherwise) of the VLE was part of a more fundamental change, beneath the perpetual skirmishes of e-learning is it possible to discern a bigger battle?   I'm suggesting that large-scale e-learning in institutions can be conceptualised as the industrialisation of learning.  I'd argued that this is useful and provocative, and in particular will help institutions engage positively with the changing technical, social and economic environment.   I think we are near a point…See More

Ms E-Mentor doesn't think the VLE is dead!

I'm a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Wolverhampton and have been using our VLE in English Studies teaching for the past 5 years or so. The kind of online activities I and my colleagues have developed have become nationally renowned in HE English Studies and I'm currently being supported in a small way by the HEA English Subject Centre to visit English Depts around the country to 'demo' some of the things I do. There is considerable interest from colleagues -- many of whom don't… Continue

The VLE is very much alive and well despite rumours to the contrary...

I have three blog articles to continue the conversation from the ALT-C and to start the debate for the VLE is Undead debate in Wolverhampton.

So is the VLE dead or not?
